Fingerpicking Jazz Pack

In this pack I teach 12 songs.  Four instrumentals and four with vocals. Some are easy to intermediate and others darn difficult. But sometimes tackeling a difficult song will make you progress considerably, and this will not happen if you stay on the easy stuff.  You can watch the lessons freely (links are below) so you can judge for yourself if they are within your reach or not.

1. Walking My Baby Back Home

I learned much of this arrangement from a version by Pop Wagner.  Not difficult to play and easy to sing as the vocals follow the melody notes.  A great jazz standard played without all the difficult jazz chords.

2. Nuages

Django Reinhardt's theme song.  In gypsy jazz circles this version is considered for 'beginners'.  I play it slow and easy.

3. As Time Goes By

Based on an instrumental version by Guy Van Duser.  I play it slower and with more feeling.  Lotsa arpeggio's.  The instrumental version and the version with vocals are identical.

4. Cry Me A River

Based on the singing of Julie London and an arrangement made by the Dutch wizzard Ton van Bergeijk. Certainly the most difficult song on this page.

5. A Little Love A Little Kiss

8. Ain't Misbehaving

Iconic Fats Waller song.  Key of C

9. Singing The Blues

Key of C
A Matt Munisteri arrangement in the style of Eddie Lang (this is not the accompaniment Eddie Lang played on the Bix Beiderbecke recording of Singing the Blues).
Every note has been tabbed out.  Lyrics are written under the tab and I demonstrate them slowly so you'll know when and where to sing.

10. Without My Gal

Key of A
The original song is called "Without That Man", sung by Ruth Etting and accompanied by the guitar of Eddie Lang.  I changed the lyrics for obvious reasons.  The accompaniment is very close to what Eddie Lang plays.
As always, lyrics are provided, written under the tab and taught.

11. Old Rockin' Chair

Key of C
This not too difficult version is inspired by the playing of Brad Littwin and the singing of Mildred Bailey.

Again, lyrics are provided, written under the tab and taught

12. Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans

Key of C
I learned this instrumental arrangement from the french guitarist Alain Giroux.  A great workout with a monotonic bass.
